Strobies it's what your hotshoe flash has been waiting for.

USING THE STROBIES SOFTBOX

Here we are using a combination of the Strobies Softbox and a Snoot placed on the background.

The model is best placed about 1.5 to 2 mtrs (4 to 6 feet) from the camera position.

Settings used

Manual mode 1/250 th Sec, f2.8 24-70 mm lens
No flash on camera (SU800 used)
-0.7 compensation set in Camera

Softbox + 2 Compensation
and +2 on snoot

This is attached to a STR117 and a COR750 light stand

The model is positioned 6 feet
from the background to darken the
background by stopping additional light from the softbox hitting the background

Como Grad background

STR117 Strobies Umbrella adaptor and a COR750 Light stand.

Here this is the same settings as above with only the Beauty Dish on camera and a grey background INT705 (Monza).
So we have seen how to do it, let put the softbox together.

Components of the softbox

A = Outer Cover

(Please note that there are three Velcro pockets which are identical and one with a pull off strip at the top of the outer cover this one is the last to have a rod placed in it.)

B = Outer Scrim

C = Flex Mount

D = Rods

(Please note these have Metal at one end this is to go inside the Velcro pockets of the Outer Cover and the other thin end goes into the Flex Mount)

Note each Flex Mount has a guide on the outer edge of the rim and shows the rod locations for each type of Strobies softbox that can be fitted to the Flex Mount.

Place the Flex Mount in side the center of component A inside the central black hole with the white or silver surface facing upwards towards you.

Place a rod into one hole on the outside of the FLEX MOUNT as shown.

Note the three red circles firstly the top right has a pull off velcro fitting this is the last one we shall place a rod into.

The second red circle shows the rod placed into the flex mount and the third is shown with the rod placed in the top left of the softbox.

Now that we have our first rod in place in the flex mount and the velcro in the top of the outer cover, we should now place our second rod at 180 degrees to the first rod. This allows us to form the softbox much easier as shown by the red line across the box.

Ensure that you do not place the third rod into the pull off velcro strip, the third rod should be placed into the Flex mount first followed by the top pocket of the outer cover (A)

Now peel back the Velcro strip for our last rod which as shown below is feed though the Velcro strip.

With the rod going though the top of the Velcro strip place the end without the metal into the flex mount.

Now simply pull up the outer cover and fold down the Velcro strip to cover the top of the rod.

Pull the Outer Scrim over the edges of the rods to hold it in place.

The completed softbox is now ready to be put on you flashgun.
